[2.] Did you keep all of last year's resolutions? I kept the really important one. The frivolous ones, the ones I made when I was drunk, not so much.
[3.] Have you any resolutions for next year? No. It will probably be something like, "Make it through a full year living in England." My goal is actually two, possibly five so I can get permanent residency. I'm sure there will be some other resolutions along the line of "spend more time with the people that are important to me," but I'm still working the details out on those.
[4.] What countries did you visit? England and Scotland.
[5.] What would you like to have in 2007 that you didn't have in 2006? What, stuff? I'm thinking a copy of Nilsson's The Point on CD, and my own digital camera, since I never replaced the one I dropped in the ocean last year. Otherwise, I'd like more free time and less stress.
[6.] What date in 2006 will remain etched in your memory? September 12th, first day of new job. Otherwise my brain is pudding for remembering dates.
[7.] What was your biggest achievement of the year? Not just getting a new job and moving (and getting my visa done, what a hassle it was to collect all of those letters!), but getting my husband to actually come with me and bring our stuff with him.
[8.] What was your biggest failure? Not having the moving things go better for shadowdaddy. I feel like the stress nearly broke him and I'm trying hard to put him back together again.
[9.] Did you suffer any illness or injury? Nothing lasting.
[10.] What was the best thing you bought? I'm really chuffed about the messenger bag I had custom made for me from Construction for All with the red and black dragon fabric.
[11.] Who's behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Oh, the Bush White House has just been consistently depressing, but I'm feeling a little better about that now.
[12.] Where did most of your money go? The house, and then the move.
[13.] What did you get really really really excited about? Moving, and being closer to wechsler.
[14.] What songs will always remind you of 2006? Is this written for 16 year olds or what? Um ... "Two Characters in Search of a Country Song," by the Magnetic Fields.
[15.] Compared to this time last year are you :</p>
[A] Fatter or thinner?
[B] Happier or sadder? Not sure, really. [C] Richer or poorer? Poorer.
[16.] What do you wish you'd done more of? I really have no complaints; I spent my year living like it might be my last in Seattle so I wouldn't be stuck with a lot of regrets, and now that I left I feel like I really did the best I could have. I did have a pretty good time.
[17.] What do you wish you'd done less of? Getting so worried about stuff it made me ill.
[18.] How will you be spending Christmas? I don't know.
[19.] Which LJ users did you meet for the first time? There's a utility you can use to work this one out. I'm too lazy to bother otherwise. Oh, except the one really special person I met for the first time was ms_vermilion, and I do sincerely regret that I was not able to meet her sooner than I did.
[20.] Did you fall in love in 2006? Please. I am 39. Well, okay, I fell in love with ... naw, just kidding. No, wait, I did fall in love. Oh well, that happens when you get close to people, you just don't have to manage it like a moronic teenager when you get older and your life is more settled.
[21.] How many one night stands? Um, haven't really been doing much of this, either, see above.
What was your favourite TV show? The "black screen" show. Did enjoy watching some old videos of Lain I bought from Scarecrow, though.
[23.] Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I'd prefer not to have my life be full of hate. If I dislike people, I just stop thinking about them. It's much less stressful.
[24.] What was/were the best books you read? Alison Bechdel's Fun House has really stuck with me - very inspirational. Delia Sherman's Porcelain Dove was also awesome. (Complete list here, but still much too short at only 31.)
[25.] What was your greatest musical discovery? Hmmm.
[26.] What did you want and get? Approval for my HSMP visa app.
[27.] What did you want and not get? shadowdaddy to be happy with stuff.
[28.] What was your favourite film this year? List here, the winner: Lucile Hadzihalilovic's Innocence.
[29.] What did you do on your birthday and how old were you? I went to Dim Sum with my work colleagues, treated a batch of friends to Chinese food for dinner, then went to the Crescent Lounge for some very drunken karaoke.
[30.] What one thing would have made your year more satisfying? Less stress.
[31.] How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? Warm and dry, in red and black.
[32.] What kept you sane? shadowdaddy, splendid_geryon, wechsler, BooKitty, and thedivas (who took all of my stress about my Shadow away from me). And my good friends at Tripadelic, who kept life very level for me.
[33.] Which celebrity did you fancy the most? I don't really go for this kind of thing.
[34.] Which political issue stirred you the most? Getting people to vote the R's out in the US.
[35.] Who did you miss? Des, all year; then W. until I moved, then J after I moved, then people back home, and Boo Kitty.
[36.] Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year? Er, be careful what you wish for?
