Two articles of high interest. Ovarian cancer. Wild survives.
First, the New York Times today posted the early warning signs of ovarian cancer. I'm reproducing them here because I am upset by what I have seen in the window of the Cancer Research charity shops, posters that imply to me that if you are "virtuous" (don't smoke, exercise, eat healthy) you won't get cancer, in my mind implying that if you do get cancer it's because you deserved it. Better to have this instead: "The symptoms to watch out for are bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and feeling a frequent or urgent need to urinate. A woman who has any of those problems nearly every day for more than two or three weeks is advised to see a gynecologist, especially if the symptoms are new and quite different from her usual state of health."
Second item: the Sudan is chock full of wild animals. Check out the herds of elephants. Aren't the little guys cute? I guess there are a lot less of them than there used to be but they, and the rest of the animals, look really inspiring.
