My Rob Brezny "Real" horoscope is good, as usual: "How well are you capitalizing on this year's unique opportunities, Cancerian? Now that we're almost halfway through 2007, let's take an inventory. I'm hoping that six months from now, you'll look back and make the following declaration:'I can't believe I'm saying this, but this year I realized in many colorful ways that limitations are my friends. The obstructions I faced eventually forced me to become far more resourceful than I'd ever been before. The wastefulness I uncovered showed me how important it is to shed my trivial wishes and focus intensely on my top priority desires. The confusions I encountered taught me valuable secrets about how to master my emotions and dissolve my superstitious fears.'"
With that in mind, I refer you to this story from the New York Times, about following your bliss. Although it's phrased in terms of the ant and the grasshopper, and about people overspending and not saving, the conclusion of the story is, "when people invested more in intrinsic values, like relationships and quality of life, and less in consumption, it seemed to increase their happiness." I like that, as it's exactly how I'v been choosing to live my life.
Hmm, a sun, a cloud, and a lightening bolt: what kind of weather should I really expect today?
