I went to the gym today (third time this week, somehow I'm managing) and did a new machine to keep it up - the "elliptical trainer," aka the cross-country skiing machine. It was really complex for me and I felt like I was in National Lampoon's Trip To The Gym. I got tired out really fast and could tell I was using a lot of different muscles. Even going slow it was really tiring, and while I made it to ten minutes the first two were obviously not cardio if you discount any elevation to my heart rate caused by the fear of falling off the thing - and I wasn't able to get comfortable enough to go fast enough to get my heart rate over 150 (though 146 was close). I finished up on the bike for 12 minutes (reading The Big Over Easy), then did my best to keep from falling as I took my rubbery-leggged self down the stairs to the showers. Man!
