The long dark dessert time of the soul

Dear English people,

It is time for you to meet the graham cracker. You will thank me for it later, especially when eating cheesecake made properly with a graham cracker crust. (I think it's molasses that makes the difference.)

The Kinetica exhibit today was pretty cool. wechsler was having a hard time with some of the blinky lights, but I was laughing and having a great time looking at all of the clever art, such as the piece with the police car lights that turned and followed you as you ran between them, and the big wall of neon words, all color words, each word done in many different colors of neon so most of them were a lie to the color they spelled. Very, very funny! Most amazing thing: the chariot pulled by an emu/bird thing with a glove for a head and two long gloves for legs ... that walked. Comic moment: just as we'd finished looking at everything, the power for the building blew. It was highly ironic to see the whole place lit by the emergency lights and people's laptops.

I'm full of stir fry now and about to finish The End of Mr. Y - and eat a Fru "wild blueberry cheesecake," which I know will disappoint me because it's on a "crust" of crumbled digestive biscuits - not only not graham crackers but not even a proper crust held together with butter. *sigh*

time to make a food video again
but as for graham crackers
you must demonstrate the right amount of time
to dip them into milk, not too long, not too little

In any case, digestive biscuits need a sexier name.

Yeah - it sounds like they're really Tums or chewable Pepto-Bismol.

Have you tried Hovis/jacobs digestive biscuits -the ones for cheese. I always think they are more like a Graham cracker than a McVities.

Er - I wouldn't normally eat a sweet biscuit with cheese. It just seems so wrong! Normally I don't get these kinds of things at all as, well, if biscuits translate as cookies then they're sweet, but when biscuits are savory then they're crackers and okay with cheese - the "Graham Cracker" is an anomaly in American food - certainly always wrong with cheese but okay with "cheese cake."

Now my head is breaking. I haven't eaten those, I don't think, as they look suspicious.

I don't eat cheese, so I dunno if they go or not. I have seen people eat them with cheese and looked on in revulsion, but they seem to like it.

Graham crackers are also good with cream cheese and jam, but that's basically lazy cheesecake. :)

Digestives with mature cheddar or stilton = WIN.

Ooooh, so they're a bit like graham crackers, then? Because I've seen loads of recipes that call for graham crackers, but never know what to substitute. I'll try digestives :-)
