End of summer check in : books, movies, shows

I've bought three books in the last two days - hardly remarkable except for the fact that two of them were books for work. Yes, indeed. I'm looking forward to my new job so much that I'm reading up on it in advance. Managing expectations and managing risk seem like key things for me to consider. Also, I think I'll be wanting to read a nice detective type SF novel. But, honestly, I don't think 33 books is all that much to have bought this year, especially since several of them were reference books. In fact, since I've read 35, I think I'm right on target. And I have a wonderful pile of birthday books to work my way through, too. Yay for reading!

Meanwhile, my movies watched figure continues to wither (due to the lack of the Grand Illusion, Northwest Film Forum, and Crest cinemas), and I've only seen 8 so far this year. However, J and I are probably going to do a Wednesday night movie club this fall, so I should be able to get up to at least ... 16 before the end of the year. It all seems a bit sad. Meanwhile the theater watching is up there in crazyland, as I think I've seen about 70 shows so far (still updating the numbers) this year. No wonder the guy who directed Democracy wanted me to move to the UK - I really am a one woman support system for an entire phalanx of actors, dancers, singers, stagehands, and box office folks. Ah well, I guess everyone needs a hobby. I'll have to slow it down for the end of this year, though, until I get more stable at my new job.
