Midnight in Paris

I went and saw MIdnight in Paris last night at the Barbican with a guy I'd met at noirem's wedding, an American computer guy who's over here temporarily working on assignment for his company in America. In it, Owen Wilson (who those of you whom have known me for a long time know is my secret boyfriend of ten years) sits on some steps in Montmartre, then has a cab pull up to him and the rear doors open. Inside are a bunch of revelers clutching full champagne glasses who shout, "Get in! Get in! Venez avec nous!"

My whole life, really, has been waiting for that taxi to pull up in front of me, and, I promise, when it does, I'll jump right in the door, no hesitation. I am ready now. Well, not right now, since I'm sitting here in a towel, and maybe not today (since I still have a cold), but, basically, I am ready at any moment in time to take advantage of whatever adventures life has to offer me.

I loved Midnight in Paris. Unlike you, I've never cared much for Owen Wilson but I found him charming in this.

And yes, I would have jumped in the cab, at least for a short visit.

I might not have wanted to go on the same trip he took but I am most certainly waiting for that cab!

Yeah, I saw that. Wilson's the American Depardieu. And yeah, Woody Allen tapped into a booknerd desire archetype with that film. If that car pulled up for me ... I'd want to go hang out with the British New Wave SF writers: Ballard, Aldis, Moorcock.
