Sea dragon

Alo-ho-ho-ho-ha and Merry Christ ... I mean a good Yule

I guess my dogs love me, because they got me a little Bambi pin from Devout Dolls (or so the tag said on the present). It looks especially nice on the lovely burnt-out velvet shawl that shadowdaddy's step-mom got me. Man, she's sure got my tastes down pat. And shadowdaddy got me a pair of snowshoes and a snowpark pass. It's funny, he told me the great big gift was "a terracotta fish for watering the garden" - an obvious lie but worth a giggle or two.

We spent the (late) morning at my brother and sister-in-law's house, eating waffles and bacon, then digging into Christmas cookies while we unwrapped presents. The silly things I got for my brother (grow-rocks, a book on how to fight zombies) seemed to go over very well, while the "Maybe this will do" presents I got for Maurie's folks also seemed well received overall. I also got some cheese as part of a food basket, and very good cheese it was - from the new cheese shop at Pike Place Market that has the artisanal cheeses (it's funny how before this place came along there were two cheese shops at the market but neither of them sold particularly interesting cheese).

Our special Christmas morning present -- a very funny story -- came courtesy of our neighbor Kevin, who told us that the big ruckus last night (which we missed) was caused by a woman attacking the driver of a taxi that was parked in front of our house. He opened the door and crawled out of the taxi, the woman still attached to him, fighting, apparently, over paying the bill. Kevin called the cops ... and behold, it was our neighbor Renee, who all things be said really does tend to drink a bit much. She's been gone for almost the entire year, working construction down in California. It just goes to show you can take the girl out of the trash but you can't take the trash out of the girl. I'm guessing she's still in jail now, but I am a little worried about how her animals are doing if she's still locked up. At any rate, we're heading back to my brother's house in about an hour for Christmas dinner ... which should be fun (mmm, ham!), and shadowdaddy is deep in the middle of pie baking. Me, I'm going to take a nap, then maybe walk the dogs.
