Sea dragon

Seattle gaming conventionl

Just got back from a fairly long visit to the Seattle Gaming convention. I got in four games, one of New England, two of Puerto Rico, one of Hunters and Gatherers. Matthew, The Bloody Englishman (one of two), beat me at all three of the games I played against him, so while coming in third in tournament play of Puerto Rico isn't bad, the point spread made it pretty painful. But everyone I played with was a good sport, so it was a good afternoon. I'll write it up in a little more detail on seattle_rico later.

This didn't change the fact that I found it extremely difficult to get motivated to get out of bed this morning. I appear to have The Blues. I hope they go away soon. I thought a silly movie would distract me but I can't find one to go see tonight.

Funny moment of the afternoon: I was talking to a guy from GenCon (the biggest game convention in the US) about their expansion to Barcelona, and I wound up talking about how tapas Wednesday night made me miss Spain so badly ... the drinks are too expensive, the selections of food are too thin, and they are severly lacking in sangria and cider. After I went on for a bit about how it could all be done better, he said, "Yeah, you should open that topless bar! Live your dream!" And I said, "Excuse me?" And he said,"Well, obviously, you've figured out what you really need there to make them fun." Then his coworker elbowed him and said, "Dude! She said Tapas! It's plates with snack sized portions on them!" And the guy looked at me and said, "I think we've had a miscommunication ..." The conversation pretty much died a natural death as I no longer knew what to say to him and he, feeling like a complete fool, could not maintain his balance while backpedalling at 1000 miles an hour.
