YellowLeaves

Perfect Seattle Saturday (autumnal version)

Although we took waaaaaay too much time getting out of the house, our trip to Discovery Park was perfect. Where was the rain and wind? We could see a hazy column of clouds over West Seattle, so I presumed they were getting dumped on, but on our side of Elliot Bay it was mild and sunny. The tide was up, and the waves lapping the logs that form the upper reaches of the beach were full of little pieces of seaweed that you could see perfectly when the waves were just about to crest and the light was shining through them. The ocean was the velvety, glassy texture that I associate with really good kayaking, and I yearned to be sitting an inch above the surface of the water rather than walking on its edge.

shadowdaddy and I had some very nice conversations about Stuff, and Where My Life Is Going, and What Are the Goals Now, and it was all very reflective and very low stress. We saw seals, and a bald eagle, and of course tons of seagulls and crows. The walk was excellent and a good restorative after so many weeks locked in work. To polish it off, we picked up some tacos at the Gordito's truck in Ballard, and now we're back home getting ready for tonight (showers and naps all around!). Seattle really is a lovely place to live.
