Shiny shiny, shiny bag for laptop

I was sent a picture of my new laptop case, made by Construction for All, today! She used a custom fabric to do it, some stuff I bought in China when I was there in 1988. I've been waiting for a really special thing to use it on for a long time now, and this is it! (I was also lucky enough to find it as I was unpacking/disassembling the house - I would have never been able to track it down otherwise.) Collapse )

I think it goes without saying that I will have the coolest messenger bag in all of London! I'll probably just retire my other bag now and use this one all the time.

Yesterday in a nutshell: we went to see horses parading around somewhere in Chelsea (this included knights jousting and how to harness a Clydesdale), then came home, where I read and did cross stitch.

This quote was posted at the Horses in War event, and I think it's well worth repeating: "And here I say to parents, and especially to wealthy parents: 'Don't give your son money. As far as you can afford it, give him horses.' No one ever came to grief - except honourable grief - through riding horses. No hour of life is lost that is spent in the saddle. Young men have often been ruined through owning horses, or through backing horses, but never through riding them; unless, of course, they break their necks, which, taken at a gallop, is a very good death to die." - Winston Churchill

Saw a great movie tonight

The Wild, Wild Rose was so the Film of Wrong. It was sold as a noir gangster flick, but it was really just a retelling of the story of Carmen that reminded me of In the Mood for Love meets The Black Lizard. I just don't know how to react when "Un Bel Di" suddenly gets a cha-cha beat - complete with bongos! It was so totally over the top, and I (and hopefully some_fox just completely loved it. There's two more movies from this studio playing before the festival is over: anyone want to go see Air Hostess on Tuesday?

(The rest of the day: breakfast, grocery shopping, napping, nattering.)
