Tiger monkey

My horoscope says I'll do well in my career this year.

Rob Brezny gets it right again: " I nominate you to be the zodiac's most successful complainer in 2007. According to my analysis of the omens, you could excel at formulating brisk critiques and constructive dissent. You may even have a genius for bringing the bracing intelligence of the heart to bear on situations that are paralyzed by mind games. If you manage to fulfill the potential I'm prophesying, you'll set in motion far-reaching ripples of benevolent change. More power to you, Cancerian! May your grumbles and squawks and protests be imbued with lyrical persuasiveness."

My throat is getting tighter and it's looking more likely that I have a cold. Maybe I'll get lucky and shake it off.

Big night in: shadowdaddy made some cheesy ham & noodle bake and then we watched some Danger Mouse. I'm having a bit of a hard time keeping my eyes open. I'm going to try to read for a little bit.

The New York Times has a great article on free will today, highly relevant to my weekend, I think. "A bevy of experiments in recent years suggest that the conscious mind is like a monkey riding a tiger of subconscious decisions and actions in progress, frantically making up stories about being in control." Yep, that's me all right, "nothing more than [a] sophisticated meat machine." I want the monkey/tiger picture for a new user icon.

It's the time of the year when the sun rises the latest: 8:06 AM today. In two more days it will start rising at 8:05, and then we'll start really feeling the length of the days increasing. It was cool watching the sun rise today, though, shortly before I headed across the river to a day wasted in its entirety other than the pleasure of texting wechsler for ages and ages. I asked him if he'd took my brain home with him; I haven't seemed to have it at all today. That said, I think I'll read for just a bit more and call this a done day.
