Thanks but no thanks (family edition)
So ... we got a letter in the mail from my mother in law last night.
It contained a check for $800 to pay for J's trip to go to his cousin's wedding.
Not only is this insulting (hello, we are adults, not college kids who can't scrape two nickels together), it demeans the gift to the bride and groom that was J going to the wedding. We spent months afterwards shuffling our finances to cover it, but it was planned and a choice so, you know, that's just how it goes. It's paid for. It's over.
I wish I could see it as sweet but instead it's just controlling. No wonder she thinks she can treat me the way she does.
At any rate, the check's been torn up, an email has been sent requesting she respect our wishes on this matter, and if she tries to circumvent us with a money order, it will be endorsed and mailed back to her.
In other news,
shadowdaddy made me a very nice breakfast today, an omelette and bacon and buttered toast. Thanks, honey!
