London Biker

So many things to do today - I am torn!

I am really torn for choices today. The Deloitte Ignite festival looks completely awesome - the whole opera house is full of installation art and I want to check it out! Unfortunately from what the guy at the desk was saying, the events stop at around 5 (though even he wasn't sure), so it's going to be hard for me to go there because I've already got plans to go to the Leighton House today.

The killer is that the Thames Festival is also going on. Basically from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge, the entire riverbank is jumping with things to do. I am most intrigued by the Scoop at More London, which includes flaming mechanical horses fighting (6 PM). There's also an archaeological tour of the Thames Banks I'd love to see, and would absolutely go to if I could be sure of getting in on the event (5-6 PM, but could be too crowded to take part). I've lost any interest in the Feast on Southwark Bridge after the massive crowds last year (though dancing on the bridge at the ceili - 8 PM - does sound fun), but the Zen Hussies performance at the Bernie Spain Gardens sounds like fun.

Anyway - what's a girl to do? For now, make breakfast, then go to the Serpentine to meet silkyraven. We will wind up here playing games and eating dinner in the evening ultimately - which I guess means I need to call the ROH and see if I can get a refund on my tickets for tonight's Ignite event, which looked great ... but we realized last night as we sat at the restaurant collapsing at 7 PM that tonyawinter and I were actually still sick and in no shape to stay out late, so we decided to not plan on staying out late and go for a quieter evening in.

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody

Well, we had a brilliant day ... letting tonyawinter sleep off her cold back at our flat. We headed out to meet silkyraven at the Serpentine while Tonya tried to get her dizziness to go away, but when we checked in with Tonya an hour late, she just couldn't get the oomph to leave the apartment. So off we scuttled to the Ignite Festival at Covent Garden, which silkyraven was completely willing to go see in place of the Leighton House. We arrived just in time to watch Wayne McGregor's Random Dance company do a new piece ("Proprius"), which I was actually very excited to see. It had school kids performing alongside the adult performers and I really enjoyed it (the sunny weather and the outdoor location probably contributed to my good feelings). Afterwards we went in to look at the various installation pieces, sadly missing on the "interactive" art of the overpopulated Green and Black chocolate tasting (*sniff*).

All of this looking and doing made us hungry, so the three of us went to Wahaca for a yummy lunch. As we sat, I realized ... I was pretty darned beat. Yeah, I went out and did, but that didn't change the fact that I have a cold, and I'd apparently used up all of my energy for the day. So we called it a night (er, afternoon) and headed back to Putney, where I promptly fell asleep.

Now it's 9:30 and wechsler is over. We've all had the spaghetti and meatballs shadowdaddy made for us, and I think we may be playing some Ticket to Ride in a bit. It's a bit sad to be staying home on a Saturday night, but, you know, with three of the four of us dealing with a cold right now, all in all I think it's not such a bad thing. I mean, hey, at least we've got each other for company, right?
