I had a very good Valentine's day

We just got back from the Northwest Actors Studio, where Howard Bulson was tickling the ivories as planned. I had a pretty good evening - I thing we stayed for about three hours (until 1:30). I got in two sets, the first my standard opener "Goody Goody" followed by "Only the Lonely" (ow, the music wasn't fleshed out enough for Howard), "When You're Good to Mama," and "Dance 10, Looks 3" (a song I described as too dirty for Julia's). Some hour or so later, long after my brother had left, I got a surprise second set and did "All That Jazz," "Mein Herr," and "Maybe This Time" (and a bonus duet with some guy who just loves Cabaret - we sang "Perfectly Marvelous" and he promised to sing with me again next time). I got some rave reviews of my dress and hair (very 1960s) from some very kind older gentleman in the audience - the cherry on my sundae.
The day was overall very successful, with a trip to Udupi Palace in Bellevue in the late afternoon (the food was amazing, read my full review on seattle_dining) followed by a nap. Then we revved up with some green tea and headed to the Grand Illusion to see Picadilly (not as naughty as I'd hoped for but very lush and full of special silent movie touches) then rushed over to BurningHearts' Burlesque at the Rendezvous, where we were sadly ten minutes late for the start of the show (darn movie was half an hour longer than posted) but got in, got in for free, and found my brother and his wife inside (as planned). What fun! I think though that we'll be skipping the snowshoeing tomorrow and just going to Stephen Petronio at On The Boards. Last night we wound up not going out either, just having Chris and Maurie over for dinner and then breaking in his copy of Tigris and Euphrates - which was more than entertainment enough for one evening.
