Tonight I went out to Ballard to celebrate sallysimpleton's birthday at La Carta de Oaxaca. There were about 12 people there ... a big group! Afterwards we went to Madame K's, a former brothel in Olde Towne Ballarde, to get dessert. Perhaps it should be unsurprising to have motomotoyama so highly recommend "the mighty orgasm," or to find sallysimpleton so bound and determined to get one. Of course, all of us were excited by the idea of going to a former brothel to sample their wares. Once we got there, the jokes were unstoppable. First we tried to figure out the right number of mighty orgasms to order for a group of twelve - apparently even if there are women of the party you can't just order multiples, you have to get them one at a time. When it finally showed up, two people (sitting far across from each other) both went "Ooohhhh!" at the same time ... clearly a simultaneous orgasm. Then dagmar_b spilled a glass of water on the table (spilling into one guest's lap), and I quipped that I'd heard there were women who responded like that before, but had never actually seen it. (shadowdaddy claimed this was the most disgusting thing I'd ever said, but everyone knows his memory is short.) Finally, while dagmar_b ran off to get some bar towels, I asked why wasn't someone sacrificing a t-shirt to the cause, as was normal in this situation, and "Beth" (a guy, fyi) said, "Yeah. Or a sock." It was agreed by all that a sock would NOT be suitable in such a situation, and might result in permanent ejections from the bed.
At any rate ... all this fuss over a simple dessert, of warmed cookie dough with a scoop of ice cream on top. I'm sure we're all pretty juvenile, but it was kind of fun joking with each other. shadowdaddy and I decided we'd had enough drinking after dessert and decided to call it quits for the night, waving goodbye to the crowd just as Dan and Danny showed up to join the fun.
The week is settling out like this: Monday, Millenium Mambo, the newest movie by Hou Hsiao Hsien, at the Grand Illusion; Tuesday, pilates and being generally responsible; Friday, "Flamingo Bar," some kind of German puppet show, at Consolidated Works. Saturday of course is the Hesperion XXI show at Town Hall. Overall, it looks like it will be a quiet week ... but somehow I'm sure I'll raise some trouble (and work some overtime - it's just in the air this week).
