Back in the USS - I mean, back from Bamfield

We just got home after leaving at, what, 11 AM today from Bamfield? We're both very tired. And yet, I find myself drawn to the siren call of LiveJournal. Why? Well, I've learned some important lessons in the last four days, and I wish to share them as soon as possible so others may learn from my ... experiences. I'll sum up the most important ones.

1. Don't go through Canadian customs with a scale in the back of your car, even if it was a birthday present that you "just happened to forget about" and even if you only ever intended to use it to make soap.

2. Do heed the advice of the guidebook that recommends you take two extra tires with you if you are driving to Bamfield.

3. It is possible to have a tire boated into a remote Canadian village, as long as you have an extra day or two to wait for it.
