Okay, first of all, it's not that hot outside, won't get that hot outside, and to top it off the humidity is low. So it's just not that bad. The talk about "drinking lots of water" is crap. We're just used to lower temperatures here, this is not going to kill people like heat waves do in Chicago.

But ... I find I'm doing things to cool off, things that I'll share with you.

I'll assume you already have a fan or two to help circulate the air.

Try taking lots of quick showers (coldish ones) if you're feeling overheated. Do it with a tshirt and your undies on to make the feeling last longer.

If at night you find you can't sleep, stand in the shower WITH A SHEET WRAPPED AROUND YOU and go back to bed with the wet sheet. The evaporation will keep you cool. I did this three or four times a night in Phoenix the week it got up to 122 degrees and the AC in my rental house died. And it got COMPLETELY DRY in between shower visits.

Other options ... hang out some place with AC (the movies are good, the one that came out about surfing might help even more). For some reason I think drinks with mint are extra cooling - mint italian sodas come to mind.

Finally ... try going to Lake Washington today (Denny Blaine beach) and resting in the shade, sporadically taking a dip in the water. Bring food, drinks, and a good book. You'll remember this as one of the most pleasant days of the summer if you do.

But it is HOT!
I believe you have hit upon the proper use of the word "hot". But that is just my opinion, as crazy as it may seem to others. :)

I agree: mint drinks are quite cooling. Consider the Mojito (though it's probably not an ideal "it's hot outside drink" as alcoholic drinks tend to a) dehydrate and b) increase the feeling of heat).
