I have had inspiration for my annual movie festival. This year I think it's going to be the films of Kinji Fukasuku. We've seen and loved his Battle Royale and Black Lizard, and I think it's time for us to get down and dirty with four of his finest. We'll start with Legend of the Eight Samurai. Check out this review: "As far as I can tell, there’s a mean princess who worships an evil spirit whose statue looks like the killer cucumber from It Conquered the World ... The best part is when this old crazy witch rips off her face, turns into a giant fake-looking centipede and tries to kill everyone before stabbed into a pile of green goo."

We'll preview the festival in person tonight at the 11 PM showing of Message from Space at the Grand Illusion, then pick it up for real some time after Thanksgiving. Let me know if you want to come!

Hello there!
I'm Eric's wife (you met him tonight) Malaika. He just called me from the ferry (going to pick him up in a few minutes)and said he had a great time and that you guys are super nice. Would you mind if I add you to my friends list? Maybe we can get together very soon in Seattle. Eric said that you guys agreed with him that I need to get out into the city more, which I definitely do. ;-)

Thanks for taking good care of him tonight.

Re: Hello there!
Add away! So what's it going to take to get you to come over to this side of the Sound anyway?

Re: Hello there!
Kewl, I added you onto my friends list as my journal is friends only.

So what's it going to take to get you to come over to this side of the Sound anyway?

Not much! I am always happy to go into the city if we are meeting friends. Eric made me sound like I'm afraid of going in. ;-)

I just need a good excuse like meeting you guys! :-)

Re: Hello there!
You're added back, but be warned I post ALL the TIME so your friends list is about to get a TIDAL WAVE of content!

BTW I usually post my activities list every week, speak up if you see something you're intersted in! We live just up the street from the ferry docks so picking you up or taking you back would not be a big deal.

Re: Hello there!
Good, I like friends that post interesting stuff all the time. I'm an LJ addict (member for 4 years now!) and I love reading about different peoples lives.

I don't post that much except to bitch and moan about something. I used to get more personal on my journal years ago, but found out that someone was reading my journal that I didn't want reading my stuff...so I figured out years ago to just use this as a tool to stay in touch with friends back in Boston and to stay light on content.

I was just eyeing your activities for this week and thinking how cool it would be to see a Chaplin movie in the theatre. ;-) Eric and I both like old movies, we have been on a Marx Brothers kick for a while now.

I was just being nosey and looking at your user info and I see that your birthday is June 21st, mine is the next day!! I was born in 1970 so I don't know if you are older or younger than me. LOL!

Yay June babies!
Older, positively geriatric (no, only three years older, so not so bad).

Re: Yay June babies!
Nah, no more geriatric than me! ;-) It's so refreshing to meet other people my age, it seems like everyone on LJ is under the age of 25.
