What's that they say in Cabaret about "my truly glamorous life" again?

Off to finish planting flowers and then start pick up things in the yard. What a life I live! It's sad to be so grateful for a sunny, dry day because it lets you put on dirty jeans and a big ratty sweatshirt and do yardwork. shadowdaddy is meanwhile off to the bank, the post office, and the pet food store. Are we not just masters of glamorous city living?

We did however make some headway in that department last night, when (after my afternoon of shopping with my brother in the historic district of Seattle - which led to the purchase of exactly one present for someone else and one pair of earrings for me) Worthy Opponent and I went to the University District for some Indian food at the newly renovated Shalimar (wish my bedroom looked that cool!) before going to see the Medieval Women's Choir perform in the reading room of the Suzallo Library. I did have a brief mental giggle at the idea of a bunch of Americans pretending to do an authentic performance of European music in a room that was built to reproduce the look of a Gothic cathedral .. but the overall effect was actually quite lovely and I think both of us could just feel our stress melting away. I know a lot of people don't really appreciate the weird musicality of this era, but I found that the women's voices came together in a way that reminded me of watching swallows darting around in the back yard of my old apartment building - repeated circles with little swoops, kind of hypnotizing and graceful. Aaah. After it was all over (no intermission, which made it an early night), we headed back home after a brief detour to my friend Nick's place to pick up the album to CD copies of some of my music he had made for me (Xanadu, The Point, and an old Queen album). Ah, la vida Seattle ...
