Why am I brilliant in front of strangers but off key for my friends?
I really wanted to get out of the house last night, but I felt so damn ... tired. It was all I could do to haul my carcass off of the sofa. (Ooh, and I was going to listen to Pat Benatar so I could aquit myself honorably singing "Shadows of the Night." Too bad the record player isn't hooked up yet.) But I had so little of anything else going on it seemed like a sin not to go ... especially since I had been the one who proposed going to Celine. But my heart wasn't in it last night, and when the KJ forgot about me during the second rotation (sticking me in at the very end, meaning I'd have another 45 minutes to wait before I got to go) I just completely lost my enthusiasm. My abbreviated set: "come Dancing," by the Kinks, and "Break It To Me Gently," the (alas) 60's original and not the Juice Newton version. And all I had to drink was an orange juice.
