Howl's Moving Castle was a great time

We got to see Howl's Moving Castle tonight, the new Miyazaki movie (#28 of the year for me), and it was, once again, breathtakingly beautiful. I sat there with my mouth open at times, and a big grin plastered across it others. The story was odd - I had no idea how this fairy-like tale was going to end - and it was very strange to see an animated movie that had so many horrible scenes of cities being bombed and burning to the ground. I did like the handsome, young, conflicted wizard, whom of course I felt myself getting all squishy toward - if only I could have a long haired blond half-bird man coming home and needing my care! - and the lead female character pleased me for not being a simplistic depiction of human/female motivation, but complex enough to think about.

Good night overall, fun conversation with ein_traum and krow about their recent trip abroad and how I should read Plato if I'm thinking about making apologies, all over big bowls of ice cream. And tomorrow - no rehearsal, and sweet, sweet sleeping in!
