First swim of the summer

I was wondering how to waste my day yesterday (given it was sunny and I still don't have a computer) when my neighbor Chris drove by and asked me (from the curb) if I wanted to go to the dog park at Marymoor. I changed from my sweats into something a little more suitable in mere minutes and ran down to the corner with Shadow and Lily in tow. Once we got there, however, I tossed the kong so far across the river that Shadow couldn't find it (lost in the lilypads). I didn't want to lose it, so I swam across the river and stood knee-deep in the mud under the lilypads, scanning for the kong. I couldn't find it anywhere, and finally gave up and started swimming back across. I was 2/3 of the way there when I realized I was really cold and running out of energy, and suddenly I understood how people who can swim drown in not very deep water. Fortunately I was able to make it back out without letting on that I'd pushed myself too far, and Shadow finally gave up on looking and came along with me, quite nicely. All three of us (the two dogs and me) were shivering from being in the river for so long.

I still don't have a computer to use. I might get it back tonight. I'm at [Unknown LJ tag]'s office using his box, again, and I just had lunch with Rachel and Melanie. Who would have thought six months ago that they would BOTH be "former coworkers" of mine now? Mel was calling Rachel her "bitch" and generally cracking me up (she made me spit up some Butter Chicken with one of her jokes about going home and asking her girlfriend if she wanted to cuddle while they watched the Christian video she was given as a "Secret Santa" present back at our old workplace). I've got a lot of stuff to do once I get the box back online, like re-writing the Sou'wester site and doing my article on blogging. Let me back online, oh gods of the internet!

We have no real plans for the weekend, other than perhaps going to see Ondine at Open Circle tonight, and Worthy Opponent is going to finally finish the tiling in the shower. Maybe I'll get to work on my boring household chorse (like cleaning the basement). It's funny how almost a full week has gone by and I have done NOT ONE THING on my list, although I am close to finishing up planing all of the bulbs I've got sitting around. It's much better to do things like we did last night, which was going to Cathy's in response to her spontaneous invitation to come play some games. I want to get some more people making those kinds of offers! And maybe we'll see some of the Hong Kong action movies they're playing at the Seattle International Film Festival. If you're reading this and any of those activities sound fun, feel free to call ...
