In the throes of book lust

Yes, I am a wretch and I just bought billions and billions of new books (which is how I would describe more than five). I can't help myself, I start shopping on Bookcloseouts and I lose all control. All I have to do is a side-by-side comparison of the books on my Amazon wish list and start cherry-picking what's come up on this other site and ... suddenly I'm (virtually) arm deep in new titles. It all started because I enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle (the book) so much, so I wanted to see what else they had by Diana Wynne-Jones ... and then I checked for titles by Rudy Rucker ... and suddenly I'm buying On the Nature of Seeing by James Elkins and a randomly recommended book on the "biological roots of human behavior and emotions." I even found a Patricia McKillip book I don't have yet, and a Phillip Pullman "Sally Lockhart" title. This all follows the "record" month of July, in which I actually finished three books (due to reading during rehearsal), an accomplishment I find simply shameful given how thin all three books were and how much I do actually like to read when I can find something that catches my fancy. Will one of these titles be my "golden ticket?" I certainly hope so.

At any rate, when I do have that nice beach vacation lined up, I will be all ready with a variety of juicy titles to slake my thirst. Perhaps when next I am on a plane ...
