Had a good time with varina8 at the Varsity. I'm tied between saying we were getting into other people's shorts and "despite the fact I'm an old married lady, I still find the best times I spend with my friends is when we're together in the dark." My favorite movie was a cross between Steamboy, The City of Lost Children, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, with a script by Rod Sterling. I suspect I'll be talking about it for a really long time. It was called "The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello," and I was utterly entranced. Combining elements of King Kong, the classic Andrea Doria and God knows how many tales of horror, it had an extraordinary animation style (very much in silhouette) that still used the power of the medium strongly (flashes of color within the flat black were very sparing, yet powerful). I did actually like them all a lot, but, folks ... this is the one you have to find and see.
And it's really fucking cold outside, but now I have a kitty in my lap and hot cider by my side. Bed soon. Lots of fun to come tomorrow, I'm sure.
I did a little cartoon a few years ago called "The Best Time in my Life." Is anyone interested in having me post it online so they can read it? It's pretty short. I think I might need to make a new one, though, since while what I wrote about was the best time when it happened (and it's set in New Orleans), my life over the last two years has given me some new best times that perhaps I shall commit to paper in their turn ...
Just briefly checked my Yahoo mail and saw an ad on the side of the page: "Degenerate in as fast as a year!" Rechecked and saw that it actually said, "Degrees in as fast as 1 year!" I simply must to bed.
